Preparations for the high bathing season began in Barcelona

With the arrival of good weather, the high bathing season on the beaches of Barcelona is approaching.

From May 27 until September 11, 2023, the municipal services linked to Barcelona’s coastline will be ready to welcome bathers and ensure their safety and comfort.

The lifesaving and lifeguard facilities will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. throughout the summer season.

In addition, a number of additional services will be put in place to meet the needs of visitors.

One of the novelties for this season is the dog beach located on the Llevant beach.

This space, delimited with perimeter fences, offers information and cleaning services, as well as urban furniture adapted for both dogs and users.

Its hours of operation will also be from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm.

To keep bathers informed, real-time information on sea conditions and flag color will be provided.

Also on water quality, water and air temperature, the presence of jellyfish and the level of beach occupancy.

This information will be available on the information panels, the Info Platges application and the beach website.

Good practices and coexistence during the high bathing season

In the building of the Directorate of Beaches of the Bogatell breakwater, a purple point has been set up to provide services of awareness, prevention and attention to gender violence and LGTBI-phobic violence.

This point will be operational as of San Juan and will have itinerant personnel on different beaches. It will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday to Sunday, complementing the lilac night points installed in the beach area.

In terms of accessibility, an inclusive changing table has been installed on the Nova Icària beach, as well as other services related to accessibility on all beaches.

Public toilets will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for the convenience of bathers.

During this season, good practices will be reinforced on beaches

Smoking and consumption of nicotine-containing products will continue to be prohibited in order to preserve people’s health and keep the area clean.

In addition, emphasis will be placed on the negative impact of cigarette butts on the environment.

In view of the drought being experienced, visitors will be asked to save water and use it responsibly, using showers only if strictly necessary.

To protect biodiversity

To promote environmental awareness and the preservation of the marine ecosystem, an information team will be available to answer questions about biodiversity and offer advice on best practices.

The practice of sports on the beaches will have some limitations.
