Collserola Library: the green library with lending of seeds

In Collserola there is a very new library. This is the Collserola – Josep Miracle, the best green library catalogued as one of the five best in the world in environmental matters.

The recognition was awarded by the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions, IFLA, in the seventh edition of its selection.

Collserola is distinguished by its impressive natural wealth and ecosystem. But its main value lies in the fact that it houses a library specialized in nature, which has been internationally recognized.

In addition, it is a pioneer in seed lending services and specific resources associated with topics related to the natural environment.

A green library in Barcelona

Its wide recognition is also due to the fact that it promotes sustainability and nature education in its work.

In the ranking of the five best green libraries, the Collserola appears alongside other centers in Singapore, Boston, Brussels and Cali in Colombia.

Among the numerous activities and educational projects are “Biblionatura” and “Bibliosemillas”, with which they seek to contribute to the care of the environment.

They also offer a book club on nature literature and have a collection of books on horticulture.

But the library’s most representative activity is its seed lending. The aim is to distribute native species and achieve their expansion in order to help their conservation.

The library is a reference for natural literature and seed care in Barcelona.
