The creators of this initiative are the startup MyLock born in Barcelona Activa and Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona, TMB. Thanks to this integration, it was possible to install the smart ticket offices initially at the Ciutadella-Vila Olímpica metro station.

This technique is an example of the commitment to self-consumption, since it is possible to recover a train power that would otherwise be lost.

The “Metrolineras” (Metrolineras)

This initiative was born within the framework of the Metro and Bus Energy Efficiency and Saving Plan presented by the public company. The ticket offices make it possible for users to travel by personal electric vehicle (scooter) and then by public transport.

It is best to be able to leave the scooter charging in a safe place while using the subway.

In addition to the Ciutadella-Vila Olímpica station, there are already two other points in the city where the smart ticket office service is offered.

It is located in the Ciutat de la Justícia and in the L’illa Diagonal shopping center.

Within TMB’s energy efficiency plan, these smart ticket offices play a key role.

How can you access the Metrolineras service?

First you must download the mobile application “app.mylock.es”, with which you can locate the locations where the lockers are located.

Once in them and in its digital screen, you can select one of the three available rates, it is worth mentioning that the charge is per minute.

  • For short custody (1,80€/h).
  • Half custody (0,90€/h).
  • Long custody (0,45€/h).

The App will generate a QR code that will appear in the App of the cell phone with which the locker opens and closes. What makes all this technological gear possible is the software created by the startup MyLock.

The software allows them to customize the application to make it possible to offer discount coupons and promotions to certain segments. Also adapt it to users’ fingerprint recognition, among other customer demands.

Another line of business they also want to offer is related to storing tourists’ and travelers’ luggage in similar lockers. In this way, they will be able to move around comfortably, go shopping or walk more easily by storing their suitcases in a safe place.

And while continuing to project the business, MyLock also intends to explore the use of its lockers as a parcel pickup point, in partnership with e-commerce and courier companies.

For this purpose, the company says it only requires locations such as supermarkets, stores or stores that allow for the collection of merchandise from shoppers.
