800 beams of light illuminate Barcelona from the Sagrada Familia

From today Wednesday December 8 at 19:40h you can admire that 800 rays of light illuminate Barcelona from the tower of Mary of the Sagrada Familia along with the star on the pinnacle.

The illumination of the 138-meter tower is now complete, both physically and virtually.

Yes, as you read it. The wonderful thing is that people from 95 countries are helping to light Mary’s tower virtually by marking a digital point of light on the basilica’s website.

This virtual point of light will be reflected in real lighting through 800 windows along with the lighting of the star.

A historic event: a star and 800 rays of light illuminate Barcelona

The lights are rising to bring hope to our city and to the whole world.

In the framework of this event, several activities will take place during the day starting in the afternoon (18h), with a Eucharist officiated by Cardinal Joan Josep Omella (by invitation).

At around 7:15 p.m., the tower will be blessed and, of course, the star will be lit.

During the rest of the week and the month of December, different free access activities will take place: static fire shows, carol singing or “take a picture with the tower of the Virgin Mary”. Consult the official website of the Sagrada Familia.
