The video game sector in Barcelona is getting stronger and stronger and is booming.

In fact, it currently employs some 4,000 people and has a turnover of more than 552 million euros throughout Catalonia.

There are several reasons why companies in this sector prefer to set up and develop in Barcelona. One of them is because there is a good balance between talent and quality of life in the city.

In addition, the cost of living is reasonable, the geographical conditions are optimal and the market is highly developed.

Videogames in Barcelona: surgical for entrepreneurs

Years ago there was nothing in the video game sector in the city. Toco began to develop from the creation of some digital companies and startups that were timidly entering the market.

Over time, it began to receive support from banks, the City Council and the Generalitat. All in support of a sector with broad projections and because there is competition for this market in other European countries.

By the end of 2021, the Catalan industry had 123 incorporated companies.

The Generalitat has been able to identify 77 additional projects under development that are not yet formally constituted and which they are analyzing for support.
