The Telecare Service in Barcelona grew by 5.5% in 2021

The Municipal Telecare Service of the Barcelona City Council during its management in 2021, recorded a total of 108,631 people served, managed about 636,000 calls and made more than 100,000 trips.

The Barcelona City Council stated that the Service reached an all-time high with a growth of 5.5% compared to the previous year.

This service is considered “essential” for adults over 80 years of age who live alone. Some 80% of them are assisted by telecare.

Management of the Telecare Service

In addition to the calls handled, the trips that were made during 2021 to attend to users, most of these referred to community services such as health care or Bombers de Barcelona.

They also managed the installation of 33,000 home security devices (the highest number to date).

Among the devices installed are gas leak detectors, smoke detectors, mobility detectors and geolocation devices.

The users of the Service, through a satisfaction survey, have given it a rating of 9.4 out of 10, which is a very positive evaluation.

They also state that the service is adequately adapted to their needs. They also highlight the good attention and friendliness of the Telecare staff.

The service is free of charge and provides home care to individuals. It operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Its purpose is to help the elderly or people with disabilities and/or dependency, so that they can continue living at home with quality of life, safety and reducing the risk of isolation.
