In Barcelona's Maremágnum: new gastronomic market pioneer in the country

The new gastronomic market at Barcelona’s Maremágnum, which will be the only one of its kind in Spain and similar to Lisbon’s Time Out Market, will be up and running in early 2024.

It will be located on the terrace-viewpoint of the Maremágnum shopping center and will be the second market of its kind in Europe.

The objective is to promote local gastronomy with proposals from different restaurants and bars in the city.

It will be the ideal setting for creative cuisine where famous chefs and emerging cooks will have in common the commitment to the essence and flavors of Barcelona.

The Barcelona gastronomic market will have a similar model to the Lisbon market in Portugal, which integrates in the same place several proposals of restaurants of all kinds in the city.

There you will find everything from traditional to Asian cuisine. Also a sample of the best pastry shops in the city.

Maremágnum of Barcelona: gastronomic proposals in front of the sea

The idea of the gastronomic market in this part of the city is key, since Maremágnum is considered an important tourist spot for Barcelona.

At this site, visitors can enjoy a full menu in one of the restaurants or try many others thanks to the “tasting” concept favored by the market.

The premises will be located in the shape of a rectangle and all around the center of the site there will be several tables where diners can enjoy all the dishes and products.

As is the case in the Portuguese market, the market will have the presence of some of the city’s best restaurants in a large space with shared tables.

The idea is that businesses that have their own establishments in the city, have a presence in this market to make their products even better known.

The Time Out Market project at the Maremágnum

The Market in Barcelona’s Maremágnum will occupy an area of 5,250 square meters. It includes 14 kitchens, a full-service restaurant and four bars (two outdoor and two indoor).

It will also have stages for events, a radio studio and, best of all, an outdoor terrace from where the best views of the city, the port and the sea can be appreciated.

The same Time Out magazine editors will be in charge of choosing the chefs and restaurateurs who best represent the city’s own flavors.

For its part, the Market will have the mission of making these proposals affordable for the general public of Barcelona, who will be able to taste its dishes at communal tables, very typical of the gastronomic markets typical of the brand and its style.
