Hotel Japonés Puigpinós: fusion between Catalan and Japanese culture

Hotel Japonès Puigpinós: a perfect fusion of Catalan and Japanese culture

The Hotel Japonés Puigpinós is the first rural hotel that adorns Catalonia with a Japanese style. The objective is to recreate the experience of a Japanese “ryokan” (traditional Japanese accommodation), but in a 100% Catalan environment.

It is the first hotel in Catalonia that manages to perfectly integrate Catalan and Japanese culture.

It was born as a family project between Nuri Jou and Tessin Sano, a couple with roots in both regions who wanted to merge their cultures.

The building is located in a farmhouse dating back to 1131. Being a family property, the building was restored preserving many original parts, but integrating Japanese elements very typical of the culture.

You will be able to appreciate “tatami” and “futon” platforms, as well as “noren” curtains and even automatic “washlet” toilets in the middle of a Japanese decoration.

The “ryokan” style hotel, initially created to accommodate visitors for short stays, is now a luxury lodging for visitors.

Upon arrival, the guest will wear a “yukata” and Japanese “zōri” sandals. To make the experience more Japanese, the hotel will offer activities such as yoga, exercise in the forest, cycling, sake tasting or truffle growing.

Gastronomy will also play a leading role in the hotel stay. A whole world of Japanese dishes fused with Catalan cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu is prepared with ingredients and products from the region.

The hotel will open to the public on April 21, after Easter.
