Generalitat suspended Covid passport presentation

After four months of requirement to enter bars, gyms, restaurants or nursing homes, the Generalitat suspended the presentation of Covid passport in Barcelona and the rest of Catalonia.

The measure became effective last Friday, January 28, 2022. They also changed the limits for holding meetings and seating restrictions at public events.

The mandatory presentation was in force from the beginning of October 2021 for people to be able to access nightlife and other establishments.

The Government suspended the mandatory measure after verifying that it has not been useful in reducing the number of infections at the peak of the omicron variant. However, he emphasized that it was effective in encouraging vaccination in the population.

Other modified measures in addition to the presentation of Covid passport

From January 28, 2022, a return to 100% capacity was also allowed for retail, catering, sporting events and cultural activities.

The time restriction that allowed restaurants, bars and cultural activities to be open until 00:30 hours was also eliminated. From now on, each business will be able to open according to its license.

Another measure eliminated is the limitation of social gatherings to a maximum of ten people. However, it is recommended that there are only ten guests per table.

The only thing that remains in force is the closing of discotheques. The establishments that belong to this sector expect that they will probably be able to reopen as of February 11, 2022.

However, the advice is to remain vigilant for any adjustment of measures in the midst of the pandemic.
