Boadas Cocktail Bar: 90 years of history celebrated with elegance and creativity

Barcelona celebrates an exceptional milestone by celebrating the 90th anniversary of Boadas Cocktail Bar, the sanctuary of mixology that has stood the test of time and has become an icon of leisure and good drinks.

Founded by Miguel Boadas in 1933, this cocktail bar is located at number 1 Tallers Street, on the corner of Las Ramblas, marking its territory as the oldest cocktail bar in Barcelona and the second oldest in Spain.

A journey through time: The History of Boadas Cocktail Bar

The opening of Boadas in 1933 was a historic moment for the city, as it was the first cocktail bar of its kind in Barcelona. Initially founded by Miguel Boadas, the legacy was passed on to his daughter Maria Dolors and son-in-law Josep Lluís, who are committed to keeping the tradition of this temple of mixology alive.

Over time, Jerónimo Vaquero took over the leadership of the establishment, passing the baton to the current owners, Simone Caporale and Marc Álvarez.

The duo, co-founders and directors of SIPS, recognized as the world’s best bar by The World’s Best Bars in 2023, have continued and expanded on the Boadas legacy, ensuring that the charm and excellence remain intact.

Celebrating with style and creativity

To commemorate its 90 years of history, Boadas has prepared a series of exclusive events that fuse the historical essence with the innovation of the present.

Over the next six months, the bar will host a variety of events that pay tribute to its legacy and attract some of the world’s finest cocktail bars.

The first of these extraordinary celebrations will take place on January 14, where Boadas will open its doors to some of Barcelona’s best bars, including Tandem, Dry Martini and Belvedere.

The next date will be January 22, when Harrys Bar in Paris will travel to Barcelona to participate in a unique collaboration. Although there are still surprises to be announced, anticipation and expectation surround each of these exclusive events.

Creativity and tradition fused in one cocktail

Each bar invited to these special celebrations has the task of recreating a classic Boadas cocktail, allowing themselves to reinterpret it to promote their establishment’s brand.

This initiative not only pays homage to Boadas’ rich tradition, but also highlights the creativity and unique vision of each location.

The collaboration between mixologists Simone Caporale and Marc Alvarez, directors of SIPS and current owners of Boadas, together with the most prestigious cocktail bars in the world, promises to offer a unique experience at every event.

Beyond celebrating the past, this series of collaborations and exclusive events will mark the beginning of a new chapter in Boadas’ history.
