Barcelona train lines R2 and R11 are cut for three months

Barcelona's R2 and R11 train lines cut for three months

For approximately three months, two train lines in Barcelona will be closed due to renovation works.

The works will be carried out from August to November of this year, and will affect its passage through the Catalan capital.

The two train lines that will be cut for this period of time in Barcelona will be: the R2 of Rodalies (direction Granollers) and the R11 of Regionals in the direction of Girona.

The cut would take place between the Sant Andreu Comtal and Clot-Aragó stations.

The setbacks caused to mobility occur within the framework of the Sagrera station works, which this summer begin a new phase of remodeling on the tracks located to the north of Barcelona.

Remodeling of train tracks in Barcelona

The Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda Raquel Sanchez, after visiting the Sagrera works, stresses that the works are expected to last about 12 weeks starting in August.

The main work consists of moving the tracks of the Granollers line, so that trains can pass through its definitive layout, just inside the empty Sagrera station.

However, Renfe has not yet designed the definitive plan for the alternative service.

In addition, the new Sant Andreu Comtal station is expected to be inaugurated at the end of this year.

This inauguration will coincide with the R2 and R11 cuts and will be subway.
