After disputing the venue with Barcelona, the City Council of the Barcelona municipality of Badalona announced that it will host the next Basketball King’s Cup in 2023.
Badalona won the nomination over Barcelona, which had also submitted the candidacy.
The news came after reaching an agreement between the consistory and the Association of Basketball Clubs, ACB.
Rubén Guijarro, mayor of Badalona, declared that this designation was a dream come true for the city, which deserves to host the Cup and will be the best hosts.
The King’s Basketball Cup 2023 in Badalona
The competition will be held at the Palacio Municipal de Deportes from February 16 to 19, 2023, in the same sports venue where Club Juventud Badalona plays its matches.
In fact, Club Juventud Badalona will be the host club for the Copa del Rey 2023.
The seven top-ranked teams at the end of the first round of the 2022-2023 Endesa League will be joined for the title.
This is the second time that Badalona has hosted the sporting event.
The first time was during the 1984-1985 season. Now, the happy reality is that in 2023 the Copa del Rey will return to the birthplace of basketball.
Badalona breathes sport. It is a source of basketball talent for both players and coaches.
The Palau Municipal de Deportes has a capacity for more than 12,000 spectators.
It was also the scene of historic sporting moments such as the basketball tournament of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.
