With drones the Urbana will monitor Barcelona's beaches

From the air and with drones the Urbana will monitor the beaches of Barcelona on June 23 during the night of Sant Joan. Firefighters will also be able to use these aircraft in the event of an emergency fire situation.

The Guardia Urbana seeks with this device to monitor the expected crowds on the beaches of the city during this night.

In addition to the Guardia, the City Council is putting in place a strong security plan together with the Fire Brigade and the cleaning staff.

High concentrations of people are expected on public roads and beaches. They will be evacuated at 6 a.m. on June 24 to carry out cleaning works.

For its part, the Barcelona police will begin preventive drone flights from 8 p.m. until 10 a.m. on Friday, June 24.

This will be the second opportunity for the authority to fly these devices, after a successful test last year together with the Fire Department to monitor the forests of Barcelona.

And they will work together with the Fire Department, since due to the pyrotechnic activity and bonfires tonight, the risk of fire may increase.

The Guardia Urbana will also have about 400 officers to ensure that the festival is carried out in a safe and civic manner.

The police will focus on alcohol control and the prevention of sexual crimes, especially against women.
