The triumphant return of the Airbus A380 to Barcelona by Emirates

The city of Barcelona is preparing to receive an illustrious guest, the world’s largest passenger aircraft, the Airbus A380.

Emirates Airlines has announced that, from January 1 until March 30, 2024, it will operate one of its twice-daily flights between Barcelona and Dubai with the mighty A380.

This decision marks the first time the Airbus giant has resumed scheduled flights at El Prat Airport since the start of the pandemic.

Emirates has opted to replace the Boeing 777-300ER with the Airbus A380 on one of the busiest routes between Europe and the Middle East.

The daily operation of the A380 will be an impressive spectacle, with a capacity for 517 passengers distributed in three flight cabins: first class (14), business (76) and economy (427).

This change also marks a milestone in the history of El Prat Airport by reintroducing the iconic A380.

Rapidly reviving demand and delays in aircraft production have led airlines to reconsider the viability of the A380, which was once under scrutiny due to its high operating costs.

The latest Airbus data reveals that, despite expectations, production of 251 A380s continues, with 238 still awaiting entry into service.

The Emirates Airbus A380 itinerary and onboard experience

Emirates A380 flight EK188 will take off from Barcelona at 8:25 p.m. and land in Dubai at 5:55 a.m. local time. The return flight, A380 EK185, will depart Dubai at 8:15 a.m. and arrive in Barcelona at 12:50 p.m. local time.

This additional service not only meets the growing demand for travel but also provides passengers with greater connectivity during the winter season.

Emirates, as the leading operator of the Airbus A380 with more than 104 active aircraft, is known for its unparalleled service and commitment to excellence.

Passengers traveling on the A380 will enjoy spacious and comfortable cabins, along with unique features such as the Onboard Lounge and Shower Spa with first-class shower.

In addition, they will have access to the award-winning in-flight entertainment system, which offers up to 6,500 on-demand channels, including Spanish-language content.

Dubai: a dream tourist destination

With the resumption of A380 operations to Barcelona, Emirates reinforces its commitment to the city and offers travelers a unique opportunity to discover Dubai.

As a popular tourist destination, Dubai boasts world-class sights and beach resorts.

Passengers traveling to Dubai from now until March 30, 2024 will be able to enjoy exclusive discounts at restaurants, spas, stores and more, using their Emirates boarding pass.
