Musical concert with sign language

A musical concert with sign language and improvisation returns to the city on February 10, 2023 by Cosyrosi and Mara Valenzuela.

There are many bands and musical genres that, in many occasions, offer similar proposals.

However, this concert is really surprising and out of the ordinary. Such is the case of MUV, the musical group that through sign language and improvisation can collectively compose for their audience.

After 6 sold out events at the Bridge_48 auditorium, as well as other presentations at La Nau, the group will play at this second venue to offer one event per month for about 400 people.

Musical concert with sign language

The group in charge of offering the concert is MUV.

It consists of a director and seven musicians who play keyboard, saxophone, bass, drums, guitar, beatbox and percussion. He also collaborates with singers, rappers, dancers and instrumentalists invited to the concerts.

The concept they offer at MUV is based on following the director’s indications and dynamically performing a composition in real time in which they improvise.

The result is unrepeatable and unique music for each concert. They even move through different musical genres such as soul, funk, hip hop, dancehall and cumbia, among many others.

The next guests are Cosyrosi from Lubumbashi (Congo) who now resides in Barcelona and Mara Valenzuela from Lima, singer, dancer and radio presenter. The music they perform moves through a wide range of genres and influences.

MUV and its essence

While sign language consists of about 120 signs, many more are used at each MUV concert. The band director communicates to the musicians issues of rhythm, dynamics, time signature changes, melodies, harmonies, accents, tempo changes, textures and effects.

In addition to live dance music, MUV events feature a DJ, as well as various games (foosball, jenga, ping pong), providing other entertainment for attendees during the concert intermission, while the band takes a break.
