Mahou Bravas Fest: the free festival with the best patatas bravas comes to Barcelona

If you are a lover of patatas bravas, you are in luck. Barcelona is getting ready for a second edition of the successful Mahou Bravas Fest.

This festival, which celebrates one of the most emblematic tapas of Spanish gastronomy, will take place in Poble Espanyol and promises to be one of the most outstanding gastronomic events of the autumn.

A festival dedicated exclusively to patatas bravas? That’s right. This fall, Poble Espanyol will once again become the epicenter of the passion for patatas bravas in a gastronomic event that promises to be very “spicy”.

From October 6-8, 2023, Plaza Aragonesa will be filled with stalls of gastronomic products ranging from coffees and hot sauces to oils, potatoes and ice cream, among other delicious delicacies.

Mahou Bravas Fest, a “spicy” experience

One of the best news for patatas bravas lovers is that access to the festival is completely free for residents of Catalonia. However, it is important to note that seating is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

The bravas tastings will have a fixed price of 3.50 euros, which will allow you to enjoy a variety of these delicious tapas. In addition, the other tapas offered by the restaurants will have prices ranging from 5.00 to 15.00 euros, depending on the establishment.

To attend the event, it is necessary to download the ticket from the festival’s official website. This ticket includes a visit to the Poble Espanyol site.

Featured restaurants

The Mahou Bravas Fest will count with the participation of some restaurants that were already part of the previous edition, such as Senyor Vermut, Bar Córdoba, Montesquiu, Acero, El Tomàs de Sarrià and La Esquinica.

In addition, there will be new participants who promise to add their special touch to the patatas bravas of Barcelona. Among these restaurants are El Sueño, Bar Marcel, Rita Cokó, Platillo Volador, Pepa Tomate, Rooster and Bubbles and Marcelino 1968.

Each of these establishments will compete for the distinction of preparing the best patatas bravas in Barcelona, an honor that will be decided through the opinion of the festival attendees and a jury composed of chef Rafa Antonín and Ada Parellada, chef of the renowned restaurant Semproniana.

Live music and surprises at the Mahou Bravas Fest

In addition to tasting the best patatas bravas, attendees will be able to enjoy live music and a DJ. There will also be raffles, such as the Bravas Passport, where participants will have the opportunity to win their weight in Mahou 5 Estrellas beer if they manage to get the stamps of all the restaurants of the festival.

There will also be tastings and workshops led by experts in the field. Availability for these activities will be on a first-come, first-served basis and subject to event capacity.
