Do you like dragons: 5 places with dragons in Barcelona

Apparently Barcelona is the city in the world with the highest number of mythological dragons per square meter. From there was born the idea of the Dragon Hunters dedicated to go in search of those places with dragons in Barcelona.

Alex Esteve, a computer systems administrator, and Jordi Camps make up the dynamic duo that searches for dragons everywhere in the city. It is a hobby they practice without swords or armor, only with the camera of their cell phones.

Dragons have a special magic that makes them addictive. Surely because of the beauty, strength and colorfulness of these mythological animals.

Apparently they have already “hunted” about 200 specimens whose photos are uploaded to Instagram (@dracselona), a name that represents a Barcelona full of “dracs”. Alex also thinks that photographing them is a good reason to walk around and continue discovering the city.

Meet 5 places with dragons in Barcelona

1. Defiant dragon located in Provença, 185.

Among goals, pulleys, balconies and weather vanes, you will be able to see them there. Crouched and silent, waiting for you to point your cell phone at them and capture them in the best images. They are so lifelike that they seem to roar and snake so that you can recognize their imposing presence.

2. Door with claws of the old workshop of Joan Balaciart, in Pi i Margall, 55.

In the cathedral there is a dragon. In fact, you can see one on the wrought iron door of Joan Balaciart’s old workshop. You can see another one in Park Güell or among the bamboos in the gardens of the Palau de Pedralbes. In the Finca Güell Pavilions you will find one of the fiercest.

3. For Eixample

It is common to find them in portals in the area. In the buildings of the Eixample there are many representations with modernist characteristics. Highlights include the largest dragon in the Parque de la España Industria. It weighs about 150 tons and is about 32 meters long.

On the other hand, the smaller one is located at the gates of the Pati dels Tarongers, right in the Palau de la Generalitat. It barely reaches 10 cm and weighs about 100 grams. They really are a pair of dragons.

4. House of the Umbrellas in the Ramblas

In this pre-modernist style building is one of these mythological animals, perhaps one of the most picturesque. It is said that this dragon is in charge of watching over the sky, bringing rain and controlling the rivers.

5. Gaudi’s dragons

Another of the places with dragons in Barcelona are the ones that can be seen in the works of the architect Gaudí. One of the most famous is the well-known dragon of Parc Güell for which he used pieces of glass and ceramics cut into irregular shapes in order to cover the surface. It is truly spectacular.
