Strolling along La Barceloneta beach [Vídeo]

The sea, the climate and its beaches are one of the main attractions of Barcelona. Several kilometers of beaches are one of the reasons that attract many tourists who love the sea, water sports and good weather. Among these several kilometers of beaches, the closest to the city center is the Barceloneta beach.

La Barceloneta

The beach is located in a neighborhood that bears the same name, a neighborhood traditionally seafaring and fishermen, the neighborhood where the locals escape to when they want to enjoy fish and seafood recipes.

It is one of the best beaches and is always crowded, even in winter, when it is easy to find daring tourists sunbathing in temperatures that are almost polar for the locals. Many people also gather on the beach throughout the year to play sports (playing volleyball, rackets, running, practicing ping-pong, in the fitness area…); as well as people strolling or enjoying a nice time on a terrace… It is, in short, one of those places where there is always a very pleasant atmosphere and lots of people. A perfect spot to arrive in the middle of the day for a picnic on the sand after a morning of sightseeing in other parts of the city.

If you have time and desire to walk, we recommend that you also take a stroll through the neighborhood if you do not know it, as it is a very old neighborhood of Barcelona with a very special charm. The Barceloneta neighborhood has many narrow streets that seem to evoke some corners of the beautiful Italy, with the clothes drying by the window. It is the place where the sailors who worked in the Por Vell used to live and where it is common to see their neighbors sitting in the street on the hottest days.

In Salir por Barcelona we wanted to go to the beach of Barceloneta and bring you this corner of our city to your home… If you are in Barcelona, we are sure that you will feel like coming with us for a walk. And if you are far away, it can be a reference of how beautiful and interesting Barcelona is and one more reason why you will want to know Barcelona. But as a picture is worth a thousand words, here is the video of our walk:

How to get there

It is possible to reach the Barceloneta beach through a pleasant and charming walk along Las Ramblas in the direction of the Columbus monument, which is located just at the end of Las Ramblas. But if you prefer to get there faster, the yellow metro line (L4) will take you very close to Barceloneta beach.
