Municipal parking lots will be equipped with new electric car recharging points

Barcelona City Council will initially allocate 300,000 euros to install 15 new electric car charging points in municipal parking lots.

The installation, configuration, supply and commissioning of the new points will be the responsibility of the company Sociedad Española de Construcciones Eléctricas, SECE.

These points will be part of the 3,000 that the municipal authority plans to install in the Catalan capital by 2024. To achieve this two-year goal, an investment of 12 million euros is planned.

The new charging points aim to expand the Endolla Barcelona network.
They will be available in

parking lots and municipal depots

. And lhe financing resources come from Next Generation.

The objective of the new electric car recharging points

The consistory insisted that this impulse to strengthen the network with new points corresponds to the fact that Barcelona seeks to “continue orienting itself towards electromobility”.

They also seek to reduce CO2 emissions, reduce noise and promote respect for the environment.

It should be recalled that in January 2021, the City Council suspended the free service, with prices ranging from 0.22 euros per kWh for night charges and 0.49 euros per kWh for fast charges during the day on public roads.

The goal is for Barcelona to achieve a five-fold increase in the current network of recharging points in two years. This would increase from 600 to 3,300. Of this total number of projected points (3,300), 1,000 are expected to be put into operation in two years.

In the same way, the aim is to pre-install a further 2,300 charging points distributed throughout the city within two years.
