By mid-2023, PortAventura World will unveil a new attraction: a roller coaster inspired by the movie Uncharted and its video game version, which was even filmed, among other locations, in Barcelona.
PortAventura World, the amusement and lodging resort in Tarragona, located more than an hour from Barcelona, will invest more than 25 million euros in this attraction.
This magnificent achievement was made possible by the park signing a partnership with Sony for the attraction to be closely tied to the video game movie and feature an immersive environment.
In addition to Sony and PortAventura, the project also involves the design firm Intamin Amusement Rides and Sally Corporation.
How is the new roller coaster inspired by “Uncharted”?
It will be a state-of-the-art attraction. It will be 700 meters long, 16 meters high and have an immersive area of 4,800 square meters.
In addition, it will be the world’s first dark ride (world’s first dark roller coaster) that will focus on the search for treasure, perhaps one of the greatest ever found.
The park said the attraction will also offer visitors a pre-show experience with several “surprises” before boarding.
Another novelty is that the roller coaster now has a subscription page where you can follow the progress and news of the attraction.
An exciting attraction with a global presence
For his part, David García, general manager of PortAventura World, emphasized that the integration of the park with Sony Pictures will allow it to achieve a global presence.
All because the production company is the best reference in the entertainment industry worldwide, which will be the best complement to the resort’s offer.
Sony’s Vice President of Brand Management, Jeffrey Godsick, said the Uncharted roller coaster will allow visitors to “step into the shoes of Nate and Sully so they can embark on their own treasure-hunting adventure”. He lists it as the most exciting attraction.
It is a real adventure. Therefore, the attraction is a pioneering proposal in Europe for being the first dark ride roller coaster.
The new attraction will be named after the movie. “Uncharted” is created for the whole family to enjoy in the Far West area of the resort.
A new roller coaster in PortAventura World
The resort is one of the best leisure offers in southern Europe on the Spanish Costa Dorada, close to Barcelona, Tarragona and the towns of Cambrils, Vila-seca and Salou.
PortAventura Park has different themed areas inspired by different parts of the world. One of them is the American Far West where the new roller coaster will be located.
