Children in Catalonia to go back to school without masks

Children in Catalonia to go back to school without mouth covers

After Easter, children in Catalonia will return to school without having to wear a mask. The Generalitat brings forward this and other measures that coincide with the return of children to school.

According to Josep Maria Argimon, Minister of Health of the Generalitat, said that the aim is that from April 19 students throughout Catalonia return to study without having to wear masks at school.

The counselor also indicated that the Generalitat is moving forward in line with the Council of Ministers, which plans to approve the lifting of the measure of mandatory use of masks in indoor spaces, including schools.

However, the standard stipulates that the masks must continue to be used in health care centers, health care facilities and transportation centers.

The measure will begin to be applied as of Tuesday, April 19, right after Easter. On the first day of school, it will no longer be compulsory for students to use this element, which until now was mandatory for use indoors and from the age of 6 years old.

However, if a child wants to continue to use mouth covers for whatever reason, he or she may continue to do so. Although it is no longer mandatory, it can also be used freely.

After two years of one standard after another, little by little progress is being made to reduce the number of requirements, but without forgetting that it is still necessary to maintain some biosafety protocols.

A new phase of the pandemic begins.
