Barcelona has the most sustainable house in Europe

Barcelona is home to Europe's most sustainable house

The estate located in Sant Andreu de la Barca, a municipality in the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, is the most sustainable house in Europe. It costs around 400,000 euros and records up to 90% energy savings.

The house is a wonderful and spacious property with double certification: Passivhaus Premium (Passivhaus Institut) and 5 GREEN leaves (Green Building Council Spain), one of the most demanding in the world.

It has 312 square meters distributed on two floors and has four bedrooms and three bathrooms. It is made of prefabricated modules, wood and Passivhaus standard.

The best living experience in Europe’s most sustainable home

Living in this residence is an experience of life and sensations. When inside, the noise of the cars is imperceptible. The temperature does not vary from room to room and there are no drafts.

The interior temperature always ranges between 22 and 26 degrees Celsius. There is always silence and not even the sound of a storm or rain.

The energy saving is 90%, since the energy demand of the house in heating and cooling is 10 kWh/m2.

It also has prefabricated wood panels, as well as a home automation system and a double-flow mechanical ventilation system capable of heat recovery (Passivhaus standard).

The structure was fabricated from C24 strength class spruce. The facades and exteriors are made of Douglas wood without sapwood for a natural durability that requires no maintenance.
