Mediterranean food accompanied – of course – by the blue Mediterranean Sea in the background. Sounds ideal, doesn’t it? This is the ‘something special’ that the Unlugar restaurant in Castelldefels, headed by Argentinean chef Pablo Drucaroff, has.

Specialized in paellas with local products, specifically from the Baix Llobregat Agricultural Park. Drucaroff goes there every day and meticulously selects the ingredients at the market to offer a quality meal to his diners.

And, behind the chef, there is always a great team. Claudia Quintero, Gabriel Buchaillot and Germán Buchaillot as founding partners and the executive chef of the Quibuch Group, Nicolás Limarino.

Tasting menu

Open since 2018, Unlugar proposes a Mediterranean menu for its diners: from Josper prawns marinated in citrus sauce with ponzu aioli to gazpacho of kilometer 0 tomatoes. The menu also has an Argentinean touch, as both the chef and the founder of the restaurant have their roots in this country.

Apart from having a menu for their customers, they also have special dishes for man’s best friend: dogs. In this line, they have their own brand to produce food for these pets called 4Petz. So, pets are welcome.

And, for those who go for the first time and want to eat a little bit of everything, they have two tasting menus, which you can choose from. In these, they offer 4 starters; between 3 and 4 main courses; and desserts from the menu or house truffles.

House specialty

Unlugar’s specialty is rice dishes, made with rice from Pals. And the quality of these shines brighter than the quantity. On the menu you will find: “seafood” style paella with cuttlefish, squid and seafood; “de la tierra” with Iberian secret and fresh seasonal mushrooms; and finally, black rice from the sea with clams and herb aioli.

To accompany, they offer all kinds of drinks: from wines of proximity with denomination of origin of the Penedès to cocktails with alcohol and without and liquors of all kinds.

A place to stay

About 100 meters separate the beach of Castelldefels from this restaurant so you can enjoy the sea breeze without being on the sand or the promenade. There you can breathe a pleasant and calm atmosphere with a modern and Mediterranean touch.

You could say, this is ‘a place’ to stay during hot summer afternoons and even on a sunny spring day after a stroll along the promenade of Castelldefels, dodging joggers, scooters and bicycles.
