Ski resorts in the Pyrenees: a destination with fewer restrictions

Ski resorts in the Pyrenees, as well as tourism in the area, are optimistic about the preference of locals and tourists for mountain destinations.

Despite the Government’s restrictions to deal with the sixth wave of the virus, the Pyrenees are spared from the measures taken.

This is due to the fact that mountain destinations do not have any city with more than 10,000 inhabitants, so there is no curfew or mobility limitation.

In fact, hotel bookings have increased and many of the visitors are last minute.

Some have preferred to cancel in Barcelona due to the restrictions and ensure their stay in the Pyrenees.

Occupancy in the areas near the ski resorts is expected to be between 70% and 80%.

This is an average calculated for the Christmas vacations, but in the Pyrenees there is confidence that hotels will achieve full occupancy by New Year’s Eve.

Ski resorts in the Pyrenees as best destination

As skiing is an outdoor activity, it is one of the safest because the risk of contagion is reduced.

What may be affected are the spaces on the terraces as the permitted capacity in bars and restaurants will have to be reduced.

Another positive aspect is the safety offered on the slopes for skiing. Skiers wear masks and most wear face masks.

Hand hygiene, safety distance and crowd control are added.
