With the arrival of summer, Barcelona is getting ready to receive one of the most anticipated events for film and music lovers: the Sala Montjuïc open-air film series. From June 28 to August 2, 2024, Montjuïc Castle will be transformed into a magical stage where films will be shown under the stars and live concerts will be offered.

The 22nd edition of this event, in collaboration with the Grec Festival, promises a unique cinematic experience. The program includes 16 film and music sessions that will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays during the summer months at the Fossat de Santa Eulalia of Montjuïc Castle.

Films at Open Air Cinema and Music under the Stars

Some of the films that will be part of this exciting series have already been announced. The four special sessions with the Grec Festival, known as Nits Grec, will offer a diverse selection of films and live music.

The first of these sessions, on June 28, will present “Casa en llamas”, a black comedy directed by Dani de la Orden, accompanied by a concert by Magalí Datzira.

The second Nit Grec, scheduled for July 12, will screen “Los que se quedan”, a film directed by Alexander Payne, followed by a concert by The Swing Cats performing jazz classics.

On July 17, it will be the turn of “Past Lives”, a film directed by Celine Song, which will be accompanied by the music of the Alosa Quartet, led by singer Giulietta Vidal and cellist Irene Romo.

Finally, on July 29, the cycle will close with the screening of “Te estoy amando locamente”, directed by Alejandro Marín, accompanied by the synth pop of the group Evripidis and His Tragedies.

For those interested in attending any of these special sessions, tickets have been available since April 18 on the Sala Montjuïc website. For the other 12 sessions of the film series, the schedule will be announced in early May, with online ticket sales coming soon.
