Barcelona prepares for an immersive experience in a Church: Genesis

La Sagrada Família and the Dominican School Church are preparing to celebrate Holy Week with a series of cultural events, immersive experiences and religious acts.

To begin with, the Basilica of the Holy Family will offer a diverse program that includes illuminations on the Passion façade, a special concert and family activities.

For those who wish to participate in the celebrations, the basilica has launched a raffle of 325 double tickets to attend the special concert on March 22, 2024 by the Chamber Orchestra of Granollers and the Coral Amics de la Unió. The repertoire will include excerpts from Johann Sebastian Bach’s Passions based on the Gospels of Matthew and John.

Those interested should register on the form on the basilica’s website from March 11 at 10 am until March 17 at 9 pm. Winners will be announced on Monday, March 18 through the same portal.

The activities will take place from March 16 to April 1 and will include the illumination of the Passion façade, a visual and sound experience that will narrate the passion and death of Jesus Christ. This free show will be available on March 24, 25 and 26, with two daily sessions in Catalan and Spanish.

Barcelona prepares for an immersive experience in a Church: Genesis

In a unique combination of art, technology and spirituality, the city of Barcelona prepares to receive an extraordinary immersive experience inside a church.

Under the name “Genesis”, this exhibition of videomapping and projections will take viewers on a fascinating journey through the first three days of the origin of the Earth.

The church of the Dominican School, located in the heart of the Eixample in Mallorca Street, will be the setting for this unique experience. Through a meticulously designed circuit with light, sound and color elements, “Genesis” will transport visitors to the most primordial moments of creation, highlighting elements such as water, earth, air and vegetation.

The most remarkable thing about this exhibit is its seamless integration with the architecture of the church. Each projection adapts to the structure of the space with precision, creating a fantasy world that seems to emerge from the very walls of the building.

This fusion of technology and art promises to immerse viewers in a truly captivating, solemn and truly magical visual and sensory experience.

“Genesis” arrives in Barcelona on April 12, 2024 after captivating audiences in cities across Europe, including Marseille, Berlin and Hamburg. Tickets will be available starting March 6, and those interested can already sign up on the waiting list for exclusive access to the sale.
