Catalonia and Madrid have the 10 best universities in Spain

Catalonia and Madrid lead the Spanish university scene, hosting the 10 best universities in the country, according to the latest ranking presented by the CYD Foundation.

This report, in its tenth edition, evaluates 80 universities, 29 areas of knowledge and 3,266 study programs throughout Spain.

The Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) remains in first place for the second consecutive year, standing out in 29 of the 36 indicators evaluated.

The University of Navarra is in second place, closely followed by the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, which has ousted the Autónoma de Madrid from third place.

The other universities that complete the top 10 are: University of Barcelona, Pontificia Comillas,Pompeu Fabra, Rovira i Virgili,Deusto and Ramon Llull.

Top 10 universities in Spain

The ranking is based on various indicators, such as research, teaching, labor market insertion and internationalization.

Each university is evaluated according to its performance in each of these areas, which determines its position on the list.

This report is a valuable guide both for students who must make decisions about their academic future and for universities themselves, which can use the results to improve their educational approaches.

Although Madrid and Catalonia are the autonomous communities with the most universities in the top ten, when analyzing the overall performance of all universities in each community, the list changes.

In this regard, Catalonia, Navarre and the Basque Country stand out as the three regions with the highest number of high performance indicators.

Catalonia leads the ranking in many areas. It excels in international orientation, teaching and learning, research, contribution to regional development and knowledge transfer.

Navarra also obtains outstanding results in most of these dimensions, while the Basque Country is strong in research.

New data in this edition of the ranking

In this latest edition of the top 10, new data has been added on degrees, such as Journalism and Communication, as well as updated information on Social Sciences and Earth Sciences-Geology.

In terms of specific degrees, some universities stand out in different areas.

For example, the Carlos III University of Madrid, Deusto and the Autonomous University of Barcelona stand out in ADE. In Political Science, Pompeu Fabra, Carlos III de Madrid and Pontificia Comillas lead the ranking.

In law, Pontificia Comillas, Carlos III de Madrid and Pompeu Fabra stand out. Pompeu Fabra, Carlos III of Madrid and the Autonomous University of Barcelona lead in Economics.

Girona, Autónoma de Barcelona and Valencia (Estudi General) are the best in Education. In History, the Complutense de Madrid, Autónoma de Barcelona and Murcia are at the top of the list. In Sociology, Pompeu Fabra, Autónoma de Barcelona and Salamanca stand out.

In Journalism and Communication, Ramón Llull, Carlos III de Madrid and Pompeu Fabra lead the ranking.
