Iberia chooses Wamos Air to operate the Barcelona-NY Level route in summer

The Iberia Group chose Wamos Air to operate the Barcelona-NY (New York) route next summer with its Airbus A330s, which Level has scheduled from El Prat.

Although other Spanish airlines were also in negotiations to lease long-haul aircraft, they finally chose Wamos Air.

And it is all due to the high demand that Iberia and Level have been registering for the coming summer months for transatlantic flights.

This demand has meant that the group has had to secure the operation through the leasing of aircraft to cover the route.

Level even announced in December 2022 that a fifth aircraft would arrive to reinforce the routes between Barcelona and the Americas operated by Iberia. Level’s goal is to invest more heavily in travel to the United States.

Wamos Air to operate Barcelona-NY Level route in summer

Wamos Air was chosen because it specializes in this flight segment, as well as because it has more aircraft on standby for the summer months compared to other airlines that are very busy during these months.

In fact, during these days in the Caribbean, airlines such as Air Europa have recorded breakdowns that have affected passengers who have had to be returned with chartered flights to Wamos Air and World2Fly.

Thus, from the Catalan capital and throughout the summer, Wamos will operate the route to New York through its Airbus A330 from El Prat.

According to REPORTUR, the leading American tourism and digital newspaper for professionals, Iberia, Air Europa, Tui and Jet2, Condor, Avianca and Latam, among other airlines, are frequent users of Wamos Air’s services.

Wamos even recently signed a new contract with Boliviana de Aviación to operate several frequencies during the winter between Spain and Bolivia.

The airline has also entered into another alliance with Air New Zealand to make inroads in the southern hemisphere.
