Get to know the human body with Human Bodies

Have you ever imagined one day being able to actually see all the parts of the body internally and watch the spectacle of life? Well, Human Bodies will fulfill this dream for you.

More than an anatomy class or a typical exhibition, this is such a fantastic tour where you can see 12 human bodies and more than 150 real organs preserved through the scientific technique of plastination.

Barcelona is a very fortunate city, since the exhibition chose the Cultural Space of the CC Arenas to be installed permanently. The city was chosen because of the excellent reception given to Human Bodies since its inauguration, the growing number of visitors expected and the acceptance by the educational centers.

In fact, in Catalonia it has been seen by more than 100,000 visitors, being one of the most visited in the region.

Musealia, the company that created the exhibition, stated that Barcelona understood and embraced Human Bodies. More than 100,000 adults and about 50,000 students of all ages are expected to attend in 2020.

Human Bodies: anatomy of life

The exhibition has more than 150 organs and 12 complete bodies that will allow you to see how the human body works inside. How life is created, what allows the body to move or how bad habits such as smoking, drugs or lack of exercise affect it.

Plastination, a medical technique that makes the exhibition possible, makes it possible to preserve the organs without losing their original appearance. To get there, a process of several weeks or even to slowly replace the liquids and part of the adipose tissue of the organs with a polymer under freezing and vacuum conditions must be done.

It is expected that in the coming months several pieces plastinated by Catalan universities will be added to the existing pieces.

The exhibition has toured several countries and has brought science to countless people of all ages. It has been catalogued by medical professionals as something fascinating and now within everyone’s reach. It’s the best opportunity to really see what’s under the human skin.
