La Molina renovates its historic Barcelona track

In the middle of the ski season, the mountain resorts of the Generalitat de Catalunya start the year with novelties. One of them is that La Molina renews its historic Barcelona piste.

And they do so in order to be able to host a greater number of events in this sport discipline.

Since December last year, Catalonia officially opened the ski season with several new features in the six resorts managed by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, FGC.

In particular, the resort of La Molina with the adaptation works of its Barcelona runway.

The work focused on adapting the slope to make it ready to host more alpine skiing speed events.

The track has a length of 4,750 meters and a vertical drop of 859 meters. It joins the highest point of the resort at Niu de l’Àliga, with the base of the Cadí-Moixeró cable car.

This resort is the one that presents the biggest novelty of the 2022- 2023 season, as it will host the celebration of the snowboard world championships.

In fact, from January 18 to 29, 2023, La Molina will be a stage for adapted sports, hosting competitions of the highest level according to the international calendar.

The great advantage is that this mountain resort already has experience in holding international competitions approved by the International Ski Federation, FIS.

In addition, its facilities are more than ideal for hosting this type of sporting event.

Another new development is that the Government of Catalonia managed the digital transformation and automation of six winter facilities.

Simplification of access to ski resorts was also promoted with the implementation of 63 ski pass machines, seven more than in the previous season.

In addition, there are 33 machines for the collection of ski passes just for users who have purchased online.

More innovations and improvements

As part of the 2022-2023 season, wifi will also be available in all the facilities of the six ski resorts. Mainly in the ticket office and restaurant areas.

For its part, FGC will continue to make the PiriNeu 365 Club card available to skiers.

The accreditation offers year-round access to six ski resorts. It also seeks to become a loyalty program with exclusive benefits and events for users who register in this club.

And as a great commitment to this mountain sport, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya is once again offering a unique pass for visitors.

This includes access to 21 marked circuits, as well as two daily ascents in any of the lifts of the six resorts.
