From London to Barcelona: The World's 50 Best Bars Awards Ceremony

For the first time in its 13-year history, this year “The World’s 50 Best Bars” leaves London to take place in Barcelona.

This October 4, 2022, the awards ceremony for the best bars will take place amidst the diversity of proposals. The ceremony will bring together the bar community from around the world to honor the best bars on the planet.

It will also be a tribute to the bartenders, brands and bar owners who are part of the cocktail industry and keep this art alive and well.

In addition to announcing the top 50, it will also announce the locations on the list that ranked from 51st to 100th.

The selection was made by more than 650 anonymous industry experts.

But before the ceremony begins, “The 50 Best” will announce the winners of the two individual awards that seek to recognize the achievements of a bar as well as a bartender over the past year.

The World’s 50 Best Bars and the Awards Ceremony

Mark Sansom, content director of The World’s 50 Best Bars, said he was delighted to be able to host the 2022 edition in Barcelona.

He indicates that in addition to being delighted, this year also celebrates the return of international travel and being able to recognize the performance of the pub sector over the past year globally.

He added that while London has always been the home of the awards, now that the pandemic has slowly gone away, it is very important to be able to highlight other cities in the cocktail industry.

Among them is Barcelona, a capital that has three outstanding restaurants that are already part of the 2021 list of The World’s 50 Best Bars.

The objective is that this classification will be an inspiration to travel around the world, promoting the taste for new and exquisite flavors.

On the same Tuesday, October 4, the Barcelona Cocktail Experience round table will also take place. It will bring together seven of the nominees on the 50 Best list to discuss the current state and future of the industry.

The round table will be attended by Jean Trinh of Alquímico (Cartagena de Indias, Colombia), who was awarded the Bartenders’ Bartender Award 2022. Also participating in the talk will be Julio Cabrera of Café La Trova (Miami, USA); Krystian Hordejuk of Galaxy Bar (Dubai); Patrick Pistolesi of Drink Kong (Rome, Italy); Gina Barbachano of Hanky Panky (Mexico City), Diego Cabrera of Salmon Guru and Lidiyanah “Yana” K. of Atlas Bar (Singapore).

If you want to watch the roundtable, it will be streamed live on social media in collaboration with the beverage publication and partners of “The World’s 50 Best Bars – Drinks International”.
