Barcelona celebrates International Jazz Day in Passeig de Gràcia

Music will fill the streets of Barcelona with the vibrant rhythm of jazz! The whole world is getting ready to pay tribute to International Jazz Day on April 30, but in Barcelona, the celebration starts earlier. On Sunday, April 28, 2024, the emblematic Passeig de Gràcia will become the stage for a one-of-a-kind musical event, where passion and talent will merge into an unforgettable melody.

Organized with care by the Barcelona City Council and as part of the bicentennial celebrations of this iconic avenue, this concert promises to delight everyone present. Six outstanding artists and musical groups will come together to deliver a show that will capture the hearts of those who witness it.

Get ready for a day full of music and excitement in the heart of Barcelona! The musical day will begin with the Sant Andreu Dixie Band, led by the talented Joan Chamorro. Together, they will take us on a journey through the different eras of jazz, from its roots in bustling New Orleans to the unmistakable swing sound that has enchanted generations.

Continuing with the celebration, it will be the turn of the Liceu BLAM Collective, an ensemble of the prestigious Conservatori del Liceu under the direction of Michael League. Their repertoire brimming with funk and contagious rhythms will catch us and invite us to dance to their vibrant music.

But the fun won’t stop there. Los Mestres del Raval, a septet made up of renowned stars, along with Chicuelo and Andrea Motis & Barcelona Gospel Messengers, will give us unforgettable moments that will resonate in our hearts long after the last chord has faded away.

And to top off this unforgettable day, the virtuoso Mexican drummer Antonio Sanchez, with his innovative project Bad Hombre, will leave us breathless with his skill and musical dexterity, accompanied by the talent of Thana Alexa, BIGYUKI and Lex Sadler.

The stage will be located at the intersection of Passeig de Gràcia and Casp street, becoming the epicenter of music and joy. The performances will go on without interruption from 12:30 to 22:00 hours, offering us a full day dedicated to music, culture and celebration. You can’t miss it!
